Happy Birthday to a blast from the past, Robert “The Hammer” McCune, who could be the single biggest human being I have ever seen in person. The former Louisville linebacker turns 32 today and he could probably still kick everybody you know’s ass with his arm tied behind his back.
The Big East tourney started with a bang yesterday with Rutgers beating Seton Hall in an OT thriller, Marquette solidifying their tourney bid with a win against Providence, and Villanova continuing it’s downward spiral with a horrible loss to South Florida. Oh yea, and UCONN beat DePaul (yawn).
Four more games in MSG today, starting with UCONN and Georgetown at noon, followed by Rutgers/St. John’s, South Florida/Cincinnati and Marquette/West Virginia. What a great tournament the Big East runs. Making the trip to MSG is moving up the bucket list every year.
27 total games today as a few conference tourneys begin. Big 12 lower seeds Colorado and Baylor will need to win a couple games to get themselves in the dance and start their quest today. Like I said yesterday, these two weeks would be the best time of the year to accidentally catch the swine flu or fall and break your leg. It is one of the reasons God created recliners, HDTVs, and Doritos.
