Charlie Strong said he wasn’t going to take any coaches from Florida’s staff but I guess when Urban Meyer semi-retired it made it as Wayne’s World best said “Game on…”

With that being said The Florida Today is reporting that Florida cornerbacks coach Vance Bedford will be named Louisville’s new defensive coordinator.

Bedford has been the Gators cornerbacks coach since 2008 under Strong and has been a secondary coach in someway for over the last 23 years with stops that include Michigan, Oklahoma State, and the Chicago Bears but has never been a coordinator.

The Cardinals newest coordinator was a cornerback in his playing days at Texas in the late 70’s (77-81) and spent one season in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Vance Bedford spent 15 years as defensive backs coach at Colorado State (1987-1992) before moving to Oklahoma State for two seasons (93-94, DB coach) and then three season at Michigan (95-98) as Secondary coach where he had a pretty good player named Charles Woodson. Ever heard of him?

Bedford would be the Bears Defensive Backs coach from 1999-2004. Short and second trips to Oklahoma State (05-06) and Michigan (07) finish off his resume before Florida and now the Ville.

With the hiring of Offensive Coordinator Mike Sanford and now Vance Bedford, Charlie Strong has nearly completed his first staff.
