Cards Freshman Under The Weather

We are less than 24 hours till the Cards and Cats battle in Rupp but today coach Pitino is worried about the health of Freshman point guard Peyton Siva. As if Pitino and Louisville fans didn’t have enough to worry about, now one of their best players off the bench has a stomach flu.

Pitino has listed Siva as doubtful but according to sources he (Siva) has missed the last 3 practices due to the stomach bug. The Cards can not afford to lose a player like Siva just before a match up with not only a hated rival but also a team in Kentucky that has arguably the best point guard in the country on their roster.

Peyton missed two games earlier this season due to a wrist injury. Louisville beat a weak Stetson team in one but

suffered Pitino’s worst home loss of his Louisville career in the other to Charlotte. Would the Cards have won that game if Siva had played? Doubtful but along other injured guards Louisville struggled with perimeter defense.

Something that they can not do if they want to have any chance versus UK.

Siva has played in every game this season that he has dressed for, averaging 13 minutes off the bench for the most part. While he is only putting up 4.6 points a game with a assist-to turnover ratio of 2-2, he has been a huge emotional lift for this Louisville team and been their spark off the bench. Taking that role from Preston Knowles who has moved into the everyday starting line up.
