The Louisville Cardinals basketball team will attempt to discontinue
their disappointing stretch of games tonight as Oral Roberts visits
the hallowed Freedom Hall. After losses to Charlotte and Western
Carolina, Pitino’s Cards are riding a 2-game losing streak to non-BCS
schools for only the second time in program history and the first time
since the days of LaBradford Smith. The somewhat vulernable team also
has an opposition tonight who’s university lost its founder, Oral
Roberts, yesterday at the ripe age of 91. No offense to the deceased,
but the Cards must bury the Golden Eagles tonight to prevent a
tailspin from both fans and players.
Remember, twice in Pitino’s tenure at Louisville have the Cards
started off the season with a below-standard 5-3 record. One time they
reached the Elite 8 and another they were bounced out by Gillispie &
Texas AM (which if you think about, actually benefitted the Cards).
Fans out there should not have their fingers firmly against the panic
button quite yet. Coach P said they had a couple good practices this
week so it should be interesting to see how they perform.
Like the Cards, ORU has battled injuries all year and are led by
Dominique Morrison, who is a stud by all accounts. The forward
averages 15 points, 5 boards and 3 assists. They are 6-5 with their
toughest opponent being Wake Forest.
