62 & playing with Fred

Lefty made the call, got a lesson from a PGA Professional, and goes out and shots 62 with a closing round 30 on the back nine of famed Riviera CC. Who has ever got a full lesson and played well right after? Now the lesson was from Butch harmon, top 5 teacher in the world, and the player is one of only a handful that takes lessons before he tees it up with some regularity. Joining Phil in the final pairing is the current US Presiden’ts Cup Captain, Fred Couples. Freddie is about as smooth as the putting greens at Riviera, one of my favorites, and has won twice here (90 & 92) playing this golf course as well as anyone on tour. Despite being only months away from joining the Champions Tour Freddie will definetly have the gallery behind him and if he gets to a good start it could be spectacular. Make sure you watch Andres Romero, also in the final pairing, who has a very fundamental golf swing. The kid has won on the European Tour & has been in contention in majors and can flat out play. Speaking of playing, Kentcky native, JB Holmes, tried to make up ground by shooting 64 but finds himself still 7 strokes back.

Danny Lee, US Amatuer Champion, is only 2 strokes off the lead on the European Tour’s Johnnie Walker Classic. If he wins today, he would be the first amatuer to win a professional tournament in 10 years & has declared that he would not accept the 350K+ winners check because of his tee time at Augusta National in April. I like his style……
