Kentucky Arkansas BasketballJodie Meeks scored 14 of the Cats first 23 points on his way to a 22 point half and another one man show of 45 points, as UK got a much needed road win at Arkansas, 79-63.

Meeks 45 points set a Bud Walton Arena record and was much needed with the absence of center Patrick Patterson, who sprained an ankle in Tuesday night’s win over Florida. It was the third time this season Meeks has surpassed the 40 point mark in a game.

While Arkansas isn’t the most feared team in the SEC (if there is a feared team), losing 9 of their last 10. The Hogs were playing without Freshman point guard Courtney Fortson ( 14.6 points, 6.5 assists and 5.3 rebounds a game) who was suspended indefinitely earlier this week. Which was great news to UK fans since Kentucky has struggled defensively over the last 4 games against opponents guards.

Kentucky jumped on the Hogs early and never really were threatened, out rebounding Arkansas 35-30 and shooting 51% from the field, while holding the Razorbacks to just 41%.

Kentucky Arkansas BasketballThe big story though as it has been all year is the unstoppable scoring ability of Jodie Meeks. He (Meeks) has scored 97 points in two games this season (Tenn. and Ark.), while Michael Porter has scored 98 points all season. Hell, Meeks has scored 645 points total this season. That is more then Perry Stevenson, Darius Miller, Ramon Harris, DeAndre Liggins, and Michael Porter combined (636 points).

Kentucky Arkansas BasketballKentucky has now won back to back games since dropping three straight and with Vandy around the corner UK’s should make it three straight wins.  Meeks put up 21 on the Commodores in Rupp earlier this year in a 70-60 UK win. Vandy isn’t much better then Alabama and Arkansas, two teams UK has already beaten on the road this season.
